Thirty day gratitude check in-Day 8, 9 and 10

Oh dear!! Really?? It's been three days since I was here?
What to do??

Well I guess I'll just have to share a little of what I've been up to and give you all three days of gratitude in one  and briefly cos' it's 6.40pm and I'm on dinner! My homemade veggie burgers if you'd like the recipe!
And besides if I don't get out to that glass of vino soon Luna may just beat me to it!

So yesterday mi amor and I sprawled out on the lounge room floor and brainstormed ALL of the possibilities for 2018 and believe me there were a LOT!!

Beautiful people all over invite me to come teach in their lovely spaces and towns and I wish I could say yes to everyone but the bottom line is I'm learning (especially this year) that sometimes I have to say no.

I know that many of you have my back and I get so many messages making sure that I'm not overdoing things and that I'm practicing self care.

So here I am checking in with you to let you know that I have planned next year to teach around half of the crazy schedule I set myself for the past few years!

Aren't you proud of me??

And because you can see my scrawls above in plain view I may as well let you know that in 2018 I'll be teaching in Oaxaca, Mexico, Dallas, Louisiana, Florida, Whidbey Island, Norway, Sweden, Spain and Luxembourg. I'll also squeeze in a couple of Australian workshops and there may be one or two more announced at some point but it wont be anything like the average 21 per year I have been teaching!

I've been squirming and stalling for weeks because I didn't want to let people down but guess what? The sky did not fall down on top of me and my dear hosts that I was unable to fit in still love me. Phew!

I'm grateful to have that pre planning done!

I've been making sure that I spend some time in nature each morning and I'm thankful we live in such a beautiful place.
Today mi amor walked along the beach at high tide and found the most amazing flower.
I even took the time to stop and smell it!
Amazing isn't it?

Of course I've been spending as much time in my studio as I possibly can and my Wise and Wonky owl series have been flying out the door as fast as I can paint them. I've sold, packaged and shipped off 25 in the last two weeks!
Each little one just makes me smile when I see their personalities begin to emerge.

Super grateful for that!

and along the way I've also been trying out some new ideas and getting excited to begin a brand new Mini Mojo online class where I explore with you all my fascination for faces and the humanity behind them. Grateful to say that boredom is not a word in my vocabulary!!

Wishing you all beauty and joy, peace and space to do the things you love.

Don't forget that my Paint Mojo ecourse is now fully downloadable and on sale for the next five days only!!

I would LOVE you to jump wholeheartedly into the creative zone with me to reclaim your mojo and make your mark.

REGISTER HERE FOR JUST $99USD (reg $249USD)

If you have any questions about the ecourse you may just find your answers here.

I won't say "see you tomorrow" because clearly I am totally unreliable in this space!
I WILL however see you soon and if I have to play catch up again like today that's all ok too!

I'm going easy on myself these days!

Lots of love to you all

Thirty day gratitude check in-day 6 and 7 plus giveaway winners announced!

Dear amazing friends and family,

A very small post today , not because I have not much to be grateful for
but because, since I started this challenge i've been finding myself more and more steeped in gratitude in every small unfolding moment.

That's how it works you see.

It's a universal law.
Whatever you focus on expands

So today I am grateful that yesterday I took a day off from blogging AND enjoyed a gorgeous Sunday with mi amor.

And today I am grateful for our home, a true labour of love over the past 20 years and the masterpiece of the man I love.

Let me tell you a very short story

Once upon a time there was a man and his wife and their two very cute daughters who wanted to find a home to call their own. They didn't have much money so they scrimped and saved and found an old house near the beach that had good bones and a lot of potential.

For ten years they did little bits and pieces when they could afford to, a splash of paint here, a new back deck there. A garage converted to an art studio so that the woman could follow her passion to paint and teach. It helped that the man was very, very handy and talented!

One day they decided it was time to dream bigger and they thought about what their dream home would look like. they even drew a picture and painted it different colours until it felt just right!

and then they worked very, very hard for almost two years, tearing apart and building, finding recycled materials wherever they could and living inside the mess the whole time, even through the Winter with some of the walls open to the cold.

 and little by little

 with love

 hard work
 intention

 and vision

their dream home came to life
and they were very, very grateful.

to be continued :)

"I'll light the fire
You put the flowers in the vase that you bought today
Staring at the fire for hours and hours while I listen to you
play your love songs all night long for me, only for me
Come to me now and rest your head for just five minutes
such a cozy room, the windows are illuminated by the
sunshine through them, fiery gems for you, only for you.

Our house is a very, very, very fine house with two cats in the yard
life used to be so hard
Now everything is easy cause of you....

I am over the moon grateful for this and still pinch myself regularly to make sure that its real!

On this weekend five years ago I taught my very first Paint Mojo workshop!!!
A small group of us gathered in a local barn to paint, explore and share stories. It was low key, I was super nervous and not really sure of myself but I gave the best that I had at the time.

Since then I have taught over 100 in person workshops around this beautiful planet, the best part of which has been meeting, communing and creating with so many gorgeous, amazing and inspiring souls!!
My heart is so full when I think about each and every one of you and how far we have come together and how much amazingness that is still to come!

Which makes this the perfect day to CELEBRATE with a very SPECIAL OFFER!

Thirty day gratitude check in. Day 4

Hey there lovebugs.
Listen closely.
Wanna know a secret?

Creativity is a gift
and I am so grateful for it.

But it's not a gift just for a select few.

It's our birthright,
every SINGLE one of us

and we are finding our way back home to it
every time we choose to bring
something new to the world.
When we dare to try new things

envision new outcomes
let go of old patterns and belief systems

This week has been pure delight with lots of hours in my studio, and elephants and owls flying and stampeding in and out as fast as I can paint them.
I've felt in flow in every way and for that I am truly thankful.

At the end of a studio session on Wednesday evening I picked up one last piece of watercolor paper and made some different marks.

The paper was not completely blank as Bella had decided, the day before, to put her little paw into some wet teal paint on my palette and go for a meander across my table.
Can you see the cute teal pawprint on the right side of her chest?

I painted for 30 minutes, completely lost in process as this beauty emerged, almost of its own volition, from the ether.

A collaboration of Ms Bella and I, the beginning of a new series, from an accidental mark.

What are you creating/dreaming up today?

I'm dreaming of the workshops I will teach after my PAUSE is over and how much I have grown in these past months and how much more I will have to offer my students......

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN FOR ALL OF MY 2017 AUSTRALIAN WORKSHOPS
and I would LOVE to see you in Huskisson, Newcastle, Darwin, Byron, Brisbane, Melbourne or Adelaide.
You can find all of the dates, costs and info here.

(Melbourne and Adelaide just opened hours ago and emails are already coming in fast)

If you haven't yet taken a class with me you can find out more about Paint Mojo here by clicking on the workshops tab.

I'm also grateful that my students write me such sweet love notes!

Jessica Brogan- My experience with Tracy was that, as a teacher, she exuded enormous calm and trust in the process she was teaching, and in us as students to create magic for ourSELVES, with her guidance, of course, which is invaluable and irreplaceable, but there was a palatable sense that she knew we would be creating our own unique magic within the space she created. I walked away emboldened by her teachings, with a mental grab bag of new artistic techniques, and also, knowing that my own teachings would go on to be influenced by that calm trust she exuded in the creative journey.

Adele Morrison- Tracy you create the most beautiful environment that brings out something spiritual in all of us. Your weekend class was life changing…

Lisa Page- My experience of your online classes and in person classes is this: You are authentic, grounded, vulnerable and generous. No hype, just great techniques from a lovely person. But there is more. There is an idea in spirituality of "transmission." From a great spiritual teacher there is a transmission of spiritual experience or knowledge. From you I have such a profound transmission of creativity. You are connected to a deep creative well and that has been your gift to me. You have connected me to a creative source that I had no experience of and no idea existed. After the Whidbey mojo course I created for 48 hours straight in a way I never have before. I believe I was elevated in my creative self, not so much by the teaching or techniques but by the exposure to a creative person with a clear and strong intention to help others find that creative source.

Leslie Peterson Snyder- Your style of teaching was perfect for me. I love seeing the process and then doing it ourselves. You showed us your techniques and thought process and then gave us some freedom to explore and express our way. I loved seeing each individual's interpretation of your instruction. I felt free to just explore without judgment. I believe you're gentle soul and guidance creates a safe haven for artists to grow and take with them the ability to continue with techniques that help you in whatever style you work in. I fell so lucky to have had the opportunity to attend one of your classes. I never believed I would! I will treasure it always!

Deborah Belica- I think the fascination that comes from your teaching comes from the fact that you are a skilled special person that shares from the heart. You tap from deep inside and everyone in the class senses that. So they reach down inside and get their brushes out and do the same. It is pure magic... I love you <3 nbsp="" p="">

Margaret Henning- Taking a class with you in Southold, Long Island last year was an enlightening experience for me. I felt such kindness, sincerity and authenticity from your gentle self. I felt comfortable painting my heart and learned so much about stepping out of my small box from you. It was an aaahaa moment in my life! Online classes have been wonderful. My favorites have been the short and sweet Animalitos and Pattern play. My creativity has been enhanced and I have become a better artist because of you. Thank you, dear Tracy.

See you tomorrow for Day 5 of my 30 day gratitude check in!!
Lots of love Tracy xox

Thirty day gratitude check in-Day 3

“All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle.”

~Francis of Assisi

Today I am grateful for light in all of it's incarnations.
The light of a new day.

The light that illuminates what is already beautiful to new heights of gorgeousness

the light that stops us in our tracks and shows us things to make us smile

The light that gives us strength when the darkness looms larger

The light that makes us catch our breath and see the world with new eyes

and the light which makes us recognise that not only is it all around us but emanates from within us too if we allow ourselves to see it.

Own your light
stand in your light
emanate that light
to everyone you meet
so that they can own and share their own
each one of us passing the torch
of an unextinguishable flame of love.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
~Marianne Williamson

see you tomorrow!
Lots of love Tracy

Thirty Day Gratitude Check in-Day 2

Good morning sunshines!!!
I hope your world is looking shiny today and if it's not I hope this short post might help to shift your perspective just a little....
(or a lot!)

You see I've been feeling a little flat lately, not depressed but definitely flat.
It kind of feels like I spent a lot of last year on auto pilot.

The initial diagnosis while on my U.S tour, the stress of finishing my workshops with uncertainty about what I was facing, the return home and subsequent round of appointments, tests, treatment.
Getting through what I needed to do to get well, giving myself time to pause, rest and reflect.

But somewhere in there I started to feel unhappy and anxious about losing the momentum I had worked so hard to build up over the past 5 years.

I began to doubt myself, to dwell on thoughts that didn't serve me, staying up later than I should, spending more time on social media than I needed to, drinking the extra glass of wine more often than I should, reflecting on the sad aspects of our empty nest instead of the joy of knowing our girls are out in the world doing amazing things.
Losing my way a little.

It's a slippery path right?

and it's so easy to keep sliding on down once you've begun.

and so, this challenge is for all of us who know what it's like to slip away from joy for a while.

I know with absolute certainty that when you focus on the things that bring you joy, your joy will increase.
The increments might be small but it WILL happen.

Being with the new day as it begins is one thing that brings me a lot of joy and a great sense of peace, so this morning, for the second day in a row, I woke before the sunrise and meditated for just a few moments, distracted by the gorgeous colors in the sky outside.

Throwing on some clothes I walked the block to the beach and who should be sitting on the fence of the nearby caravan park but my kookaburra friend with another reminder to look for the joy!

At the top of the stairs down to the sand I took a deep breath

Took in the miracle, the wonder and the certainty of another new day

With just a passing flock of pelicans and a lone nearby seagull for company

I decided to stay in a state of awe and wonder for as long as I could this day

Wishing you all a beautiful day!
I'd love to know what brings you joy in the comments below

Lots of love Tracy

ps I just came across this old pic of Mimi when she was a kitten and I've been sitting here for ten minutes trying to make up some wise anecdote to go with it but you know what?

I think it's enough for us all to just soak up her cuteness and smile. That is all :)

Thirty day gratitude check in. Day one.

“Hello, sun in my face. Hello you who made the morning and spread it over the fields...Watch, now, how I start the day in happiness, in kindness.”

Hello, hello my beautiful creative friends and seekers!!

I've missed you!

Have you missed me?

It seems like eons since I used to check in regularly here and I've been feeling the call to recommit to this space, to our shared experience, to our community of curious wonderment.

Most of you know that last year was a big one for me,
and that this year I am taking things a little easier,
spending time taking more care of myself,
so that I can continue to do the work I value so much in the world,
taking care of the creative souls of those whose paths intertwine with mine.

For those of you who may have missed my 2016 adventures it was definitely a doozy and I am soooooo grateful to be back on the path to wellness.

Here's a little recap to get you up to date!

I truly believe that there is no better way to walk through this world than from a place of gratitude. Being centred in this space opens up everything GOOD so what better place to begin to blog again than with thanks for the abundance of beauty, love and kindness in this world.

Just yesterday these two beautiful kookaburras flew into the Paperbark tree in our backyard and serenaded me with the joyful sound of their raucous laughter.

Looking up Kookaburra symbolism I found the following words, some of which resonated deeply.
Maybe they will for you too?

"Pay attention to opportunities around you, and listen to nature and to the world around you, you may find that you are being given some important messages at this time.

The kookaburra encourages us to use laughter as a form of healing. Laughter can be a positive force for the body, even when we force it and we don't really 'feel' it. Laughter between people is a way that reinforces bonding and helps us to enjoy life even when things are very tough. Look at how much you laugh every day, chances are if kookaburra has flown into your life you could stand to laugh a little more. It is time to turn your hurt into happiness, and the power of laughter is a great road to doing just that.

Kookaburra draws our attention to family, and our family relationships. Often kookaburra energy suggests that family connections are important in our lives at this time, either because of rivalry (particularly amongst siblings) or because we are looking at our role within the family unit. Ask yourself what your responsibilities are to your family, and what their responsibilities are to you. If you feel you are not being honoured or respected enough by your blood relations, ask yourself if you have given them the honour and respect you feel you deserve.

Kookaburra has a very powerful healing energy, and its presence in a reading or in your life can indicate a time when profound healing is occurring. This healing is not just happening to you, but to people around you, and creates a more healthful ripple effect that creates positive changes to come. Kookaburra can indicate that the querent has reached the end of a difficult journey, and new healthful growth has already begun. "

So, for the next thirty days I am committing to check in daily and record my gratitude here in this space of Heartful Musings.

I would love it if you joined me. Just tag #tracyverdugogratitudechallenge on Instagram and FB if you feel inclined to jump on the "thank you" train.

Today I am overwhelmingly grateful for this beautiful place we call home~ Jervis Bay.
Rising early I sipped on my coffee and then, just after sunrise, walked the short distance to the beach, crossing Moona Moona Creek.
Everything was still, not a ripple on the water, a lone campervan across the way had found the perfect place to sleep.

A short walk and I am on the beach. The rain has washed the tannins into the bay and the water is chocolate grey rather than its usual turquoise blue.

I walk for an hour listening to an Abundant Artist Podcast discussion called "Are Women Worse at Self Promotion than Men"
It makes for interesting listening and I'm grateful for those who collate and share their wisdom so freely, helping us all to grow and learn.

On the way home the mood of Moona Moona has changed a little.
Light breaks through the clouds, reflecting in the dark waters, and tiny fish dance along the surface.
I breathe it all in, grateful for this new day, this walk, these legs, this breath, this light, this chance to share it all with you.

Grateful times infinity and looking forward to being here with you for the next thirty days.

Lots of love
Tracy xoxox
